How to Wear Your Culture

I Wear My Culture
By Margarita Diaz

I get to wear my culture(s),
Sometimes boldly,
Bright and beautiful;
Other times more nude and natural,

Letting the ME beneath take the focus.

Either way it’s mine to wear,
Mine to dare,
To challenge, keep, toss or share.

And if the fit isn’t right anymore,
We won’t move as freely in it.

So “take it in” a bit here,
”Let it out” a bit there,
Until it fits just right.
Because WE get to wear our cultures,

And not the other way around.

“Wear your culture tight enough to show where you came from, but loose enough to show who YOU are. “

~ Margarita Diaz

A cultural take on a classic fashion quote. 😉

*Original quote by Edith Head:

”Your dresses should be tight enough to show you’re a woman and loose enough to show you’re a lady.”
