Note to Self

Margarita is wearing a plum brown colored sleeveless dress and is standing in front of but not too close to a mirror holding her cellphone. The window behind her reveals the New York City skyline and a construction crane.

“Note to Self”
By Margarita Diaz

Remember to share
Enough to be heard.
But not too much!
A little unsaid is preferred.

Remember to show
Enough to be seen.
Just don’t over-expose,
If you know what I mean.

Privacy is respect,
Of myself and of others.
But it’s not a wall,
As they’ll soon discover.

Facts, stats and photos,
All over the net.
Logos and promos,
“Follow! Buy! Don’t forget!”

It’s not really for me,
Putting life on display.
I won’t chase or pursue them,
But I do hope they’ll stay.

Just because you don’t seek,
Doesn’t mean that you hide.
Just by sharing your thoughts,
They can see what’s inside.

Note to self:
It’s okay, if the fonts are your frame.
It’s okay if your face,
Rarely gets in the game.

If they’re here they will see,
As their trust in you grows,
That with just the right words,
You are sharing your soul.

Allow me to introduce (or reintroduce) mySELF:

👋 I’m Margarita!

▪️I’m . . . a lot of things but all ONE person: ME.

▪️You won’t get all of me, all the time; but you will always get a me that’s entirely genuine.

▪️Remember when we used to say “genuine?”

▪️Authenticity and Identity are topics I write about, and we all have a lot to contribute to these discussions.

▪️My About page will give you a better idea of what I’m about here at Diverse in the City®️.

And hopefully my poem gives you a glimpse of the me you will see if you stick around. 🖤
